Emm Alleway is wife, and mum to their three brilliant children. Having studied Pastoral Care and Leadership at Hillsong International Leadership College in Sydney Australia, Emm has worked with young people for over 20 years. She is currently a lead schools worker and mentor and runs a self-esteem course for women. 

Emm strongly believes that people can help others rewrite stories with care, resources and passion. She has served on church leadership teams, is a regular public speaker and has been part of numerous mission teams to Romania. In her spare time she enjoys running, baking, family time, coffee with friends, long walks on the beach and the odd bit of kick boxing. 



Stu Alleway is a husband, dad, taxi driver for the kids and Chelsea fan! He serves as the Community Pastor at Skylark Church in Chelmsford, Essex where he has worked for over 10 years. Part of his role sees him serve as Chaplain to Southend United where after 5 years he is still waiting for a playing contract! Previous to that he was a PE instructor working with children in the care system.

Stu loves connecting with people from all backgrounds and is passionate about people seeing their worth, value and potential released and discovering how they can play their part in making the world better. He developed a self-esteem course for teenage boys which is delivered to schools across the city.  Alongside sport, he loves spending time with family and friends. 


Stephen St James is a qualified accountant. After a long career in financial management he has recently been mixing interim assignments with helping to establish charity projects, blending his professional knowledge with a passion to see things change for the better. He has helped establish five charities that operate in the UK and overseas. He remains a director of one, in addition to Big Love. He also heads up delivery of the Recovery Course in Chelmsford with his wife Sheree. He is passionate about running, football, sailing and the great outdoors.



Andrea Barnes has spent most of her career as a primary school teacher. She is a musician and started her career as a peripatetic teacher of violin, piano and saxophone. Andrea's responsibilities as a primary teacher have included heading up music provision across the schools she has worked in as well as contributing a creative approach to the curriculum.

Andrea heads up missions and justice at Skylark Church in Chelmsford and is responsible for leading mission trips to Romania since 2013. 

In her spare time, she enjoys reading, going to the gym, composing music, playing in bands, writing fiction and learning Romanian!




Edward Wells has been leading teams for over thirteen years, some up to a few hundred strong. He is passionate about great leadership and loves to help translate good ideas and strategy into meaningful actions. He is excited to see Big Love come alongside individuals, families and communities in need - and help them build a brighter, fairer future. Edward is married, and with his wife loves spending time outdoors with their three children, reading, running and cycling.
